Park Terrace celebrated Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, February 15th.  We had a new musician come for our festivities.  His name is Dale Martell.  Dale played a variety of music  on the piano and accordion for our listening ears.  Mrs. Graham’s 2nd grade class from Parkside Elementary School in Buffalo sent a Valentine card to every resident here at Park Terrace.  Mrs. Graham’s class are pen pals with many of our residents here.  It is so great to bring the generations together.  We so want to thank them for sending the Valentines and the way their class has reached out to our residents.   Our ministry center was decorated with roses and the craft plates that the residents had made prior.  The plates were beautiful.  A clear glass plate with lovely heart fabrics that were crafted with decoupage.  A yummy chocolate dessert was served.  It was a beautiful afternoon to celebrate love.

We wanted to highlight our sewing club that meets on Wednesdays two times a month.  I am so amazed at the talent of these dear women.  They gather and work on quilts, pillows, table runners and so much more.  Our quilts are made to give away.  The quilts that are made for children are donated to “The Nest” which is an organization that helps expectant and new moms who can’t always provide for their children.  The moms are even able to stay there after baby is born for several weeks while getting help to care for their babies. What a great cause.  The adult quilts are donated to the Monticello Cancer Center.  Tie blankets are donated to the MOPS club who bring in their children to visit the elderly.   The women seem to enjoy the sewing.

Rock painting was one of the activities for the month of February.  It is fun to see all the creations.

There are two “Moms” groups who come into Park Terrace to visit the residents.  One is the MOPS club from the Covenant Church in Buffalo and the other is a group called the Mom’s Club.  Children just seem to bring out the smiles from our residents.  Thank you moms for bringing the children especially when the weather has not been so nice.  We appreciate all the visits.

We have planned our monthly birthday party and St. Patrick’s Day party together this month.  Dale and Sam Dahmen will be back to tickle our ears with a wide variety of music.  Dale and Sam are father and son.  What a great time we have every time they come.  We will be wearing green for sure.  Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone.

We will be starting a new group catering to the men this time.  It will be a poker club.  Many of the elderly played a lot of cards and this is something that our men enjoy along with a few women.  We are also hoping to implement some more activities that the men will take part in.

Park Terrace residents will be pre-seeding for flowers in March that will be planted here when the weather permits.  Every year the residents help with the planting and it makes it a fun activity that can help occupy some time when we can’t be outdoors.  Looking forward to those spring flowers!!

We would like to mention Jan Naaktgeboren and thank her for coming in to Park Terrace to volunteer playing piano for us a few times a month.  Jan plays beautifully and the residents either sing along or play “name that tune”.  Many thanks Jan for all you do for Park Terrace.  Joan Lowe is also an employee of Park Terrace and brings with her many musical talents.  We thank you also Joan.  Your music ministry is much appreciated.
